So over the past few weeks or so, you may have noticed that I haven't really been posting or writing on my blog much (sorry about that, I am a busy man after all). But I've been sort of cheating on fashion with home decor in the sense of redecorating my bedroom. So I've traded my fashion magazines for home style ones, my clothes shopping for lampshade shopping and my sewing machine for a paint brush on a mission to give my room a more personal feel and cosiness about it, and here's how I got on.

I decided to go with the colour scheme of grey, black, white and mustard yellow with a mix of my personality, that being music, fashion and art. Sticking to Kirstie Allsopp's motto of 'fill your house for free' and feeling inspired by the program (you should check it out on 4OD if you didn't catch it on TV). I decided to source as many things as I could for next to nothing on websites like Freegle and Freecycle (fantastic for one off pieces) including the running rail, a mannequin's hand and the desk allowing myself to spend around £100 for decor and furnishings. Not bad for a total makeover!

Bits left to finish? They include some decorations for my mirror, gloss for the woodwork and tie back hooks for the curtains! If you're out shopping don't forget to pop into places like charity shops and The Home Sense, they're great for cheap, one-off bargains and if you're in need of some inspiration, get online, get some magazines and get down to your local shops to see how they're merchandising their stock!
